Library Museum Master Plan for Fort Myers

Creation of a Master Plan for Fort Myers Cultural Complex

ABOUT

This three block area of the city houses key cultural institutions and needed a unifying vision to create a successful urban space.

The library and museum area also needed to be reconnected to the city’s downtown core.

SCOPE

Master Plan Design for Cultural Complex, including Lee County Library and Fort Myers Historical Museum and Urban Park.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Urban design features were introduced to encourage pedestrian linkages and to integrate this important complex into the city fabric.
  • The existing and new building elements were knit together with carefully crafted exterior spaces that extend the functional uses of the
    interior spaces to the exterior.
  • The monumental green space that fronts on MLK Blvd. provides an urban park and identity for the complex.
