Renovation of the Eustis Finance Building
ABOUT
The existing mid-1960s bank building occupies a prominent corner in the downtown historic district of the City of Eustis.
The building was converted for use as the City’s Finance Department offices.
SCOPE
Major renovation for adaptive use.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The “new skin” and ornament serve to unify the building’s two separate sections.
- The introduction of vertical pilasters and a monumental cornice conveys formality, dignity yet approachability to the public.
- The façade treatment represents an ironic twist to the “slip covering” of historic buildings that was common during the late ’60s and ’70s.
