West Bay Community Revitalization and Design

Revitalization and Design of the West Bay Community

ABOUT

The West Bay area lost its historical character due to road widening,  demolition, and decay.  The project included the creation of a design palette of architectural elements and color schemes to bring unity back to the area.

SCOPE

Creation of a design palette for the commercial core.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Using a modern interpretation of the masonry vernacular style, the façade elements were adaptable to each type of structure and relatively cost effective for the property owners to implement over time.
  • Outdoor cafes and small green areas were periodically inserted into the blocks to entire pedestrians to linger.
